Short Story : Loving Tenderness

Loving Tenderness

Why are you crying, a child asked her. She at that time didn't know what to explain or what to tell. Could she tell this 5 year old of the pain and hurt that she was going through at that time. No, she didn't want to burst the bubble of the child. She smiled through the tears and said - nothing. Just like that. The child took her hand and said then lets cry together. She broke into a laughter. Sigh, for the innocence and naïveté of a child. Deep inside her heart, she wished it was just a game, but it wasn't so. The child put his head on her lap and as she caressed his head, she silently hope and prayed for the innocence to remain intact and not fade away in the madding world. She looked at the face of the child. He was sleeping rather peacefully and with content. Suddenly she too felt a certain kind of calmness in her.
