He was a hero to them
When they saw him after years, it was hard for them to believe and digest that this was the same guy who had instilled life into their lives. Hard, withdrawn and shelled was how he had become. Leave him -no. They took it upon themselves to make him the hero, he once was because for them that was what friends were for and meant.
